Get Help (ISSS Liaisons & Student Advisors)
ISSS Advisors
Each F-1 and J-1 student at Emory is assigned an ISSS advisor based on their last name. If an Emory faculty member or administrator has an international student-specific question, they should contact the student's assigned ISSS Advisor for assistance.
ISSS School Liaisons
In addition to providing one-on-one advising to international students, each ISSS advisor acts as a "liaison" to an Emory school. The purpose of the ISSS school liaison is to provide general and programmatic support to academic units across Emory’s Atlanta campus. This enables schools to have a single point of contact within ISSS and gives ISSS advisors the opportunity to develop strong partnerships within each school. In addition to being a first point of contact for non-student specific questions, a school's ISSS liaison should be contacted by academic units to discuss any of the following:
- ISSS policies and procedures
- Coordination of school-specific presentations, such as CPT or OPT
- Planning a school's ISSS presentation during new student orientation
- The addition of a new academic program. Emory may need to obtain government approval before F-1 or J-1 students can enroll. Thus, academic units should contact their ISSS liaison as early as possible.
- Changes to an established academic program. Depending on the type of change, federal government approval may be required.
