Transportation
Subway/Bus Service: MARTA
MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) is the major public transportation operator for the city of Atlanta. MARTA operates a network of bus routes and train stations which can be particularly useful for getting around Atlanta if the destination is a major tourist site, the downtown area, or Atlanta’s international airport. Emory’s campuses also feature multiple MARTA bus stops which makes getting to and from Emory convenient. Check out Emory's Transportation & Parking Services' Public Transit page and the MARTA website for more information on MARTA and other local public transportation.

Emory Shuttles
Emory's Transportation and Parking Services operates a network of shuttles for members of the Emory community to easily get around campus, commute to class/work, and visit off-campus places of interest. The system includes the following routes: campus, commuter, hospital, shopping & entertainment and public transit. They offer a real-time shuttle tracker as well as a free, on-demand service called Saferide which operates on Emory’s Clifton campuses from 9PM-5AM, 365 days per year.

Rideshare Apps
Uber and Lyft are currently the two major competing rideshare apps in the Atlanta area. Both apps are available on iOS and Android and offer various service options at different price points depending on time of day, number of people, and whether or not a SUV is requested.
Safety Tips:
- Always confirm the license plate and driver match the app description.
- Before getting in the car, have the driver say the name of the person requesting the ride rather than asking them their name.

Personal Car
Atlanta is a large spread-out city. Additionally, many people live in the suburbs and commute into the city for school or work. For these reasons, many people in Atlanta and the metro-Atlanta area choose to purchase and drive their own car. For more information on driving in the United States and in Georgia, please refer to ISSS' Driver's Licenses page.
Students and scholars who plan to regularly drive to campus will also need to obtain an Emory parking permit. Visit Emory's Transportation and Parking Services website for more information.

Bicycles
For students and scholars who live on or near campus or simply prefer a more eco-friendly mode of transportation, Emory offers bike racks throughout campus and even operates a bicycle and bicycle lock rental program. To stay safe while cycling, please also review Georgia's Office of Highway Safety's Bicycle Safety in Georgia page.
